It may not seem like much, but something as simple as choosing to change a light bulb really can make a difference, particularly if we all join in together.
Here are some surprisingly small changes that can add up to big results.
– Choosing to use the air dry setting on your dishwasher can save 663 lbs of CO2 a year
– By Choosing products with less packaging and reducing trash production by 10% you can save 1200 lbs of CO2 annually
– Recycle half of your household waste and eliminate 2400 lbs of CO2
– Commute to work by alternate transportation just once a week and save 1500 lbs of CO2 annually
– Change 5 bulbs – If every person would just switch out 5 traditional light bulbs for CFL’s we would save over 1 trillion lbs of CO2
– Turn your air conditioner up or your heat down by two degrees and save 2000 lbs of CO2 each year
– Stop the leaks – fixing a leaky toilet can save 200 gallons of water a month. And sealing up leaks around the house with proper insulation will dramatically reduce home energy bills
– Get rid of paper towels – If every household eliminated used one less roll of paper towels we would save 554,000 trees.
– If every household replaced just one box of virgin fiber facial tissues (175 sheets) with 100% recycled ones, we could save 163,000 trees.
