The inaugural edition of ‘Future Cities Show’ in Dubai, UAE, which will run from April 2nd – 4th, will highlight the importance of water sustainability. The show will showcase a series of new water technologies that have been developed as viable alternatives to older, less feasible options.

The Future Cities Show is a global platform for companies and organisations engaged in developing an advanced infrastructure all over the world. It will attract big investors and those who have creative and innovative ideas to build future cities from economic, technological and environmental aspects.

The organisers of the show have planned a series of activities and events aiming to maximise its benefits to exhibitors and visitors. These activities will be attended by specialists and pioneers in energy, water and environment as they spread a culture of sustainability and strengthen national and regional efforts to achieve a green economy.

The Future Cities Show will also shed light on low-cost water treatment technologies, water recycling, conservation and rainwater harvesting which will serve as important elements for future cities.

“Water is a critical component for life on earth. Many of our facilities are already efficient in terms of using water, but we can always do more. Given the scale of our need, we’re working to become more conscious about our water footprint,” said Dawood Al Shezawi, Chairman of Strategic and Head of the organisation committee of the new show.

It has been noted that several countries across the world are doing more than just dabbling in wastewater recycling right now. Singapore, Spain, a few Scandinavian countries, as well as the United States recycle a significant portion of the wastewater they generate. Recycled wastewater is generally disposed of in larger bodies of water – seas, rivers, ponds, etc. or used for gardening, cleaning, as well as for industrial applications. In addition, the UAE has taken advanced steps to ensure water sustainability for the present and future generations.

“With rising energy costs and global warming, new approaches to water process engineering technology are vital for future cities. The Future Cities Show will for the first time address these challenges, insights and solutions for water sustainability in a direct, integrated and holistic way. The conference will allow the dissemination and discussion of cutting edge research in water process engineering, sustainability and energy efficiency,” said Al Shezawi.

To be addressed by thought leaders and technical experts from different sectors of the society, Future Cities Show aim to provide a forum for discussion on the importance of water and other areas of sustainability.
