TRYP by Wyndham Dubai is successfully leading by example as it positions itself at the forefront of industry-wide moves to reduce the impact hotels have on the environment as well as giving back to the community thanks to its LUVE by TRYP initiative. The 650-room hotel in Barsha Heights has established itself as a market leader in sustainability and one of the most green-focused properties in the UAE.
The hotel’s ongoing pledge to adhere to key environmental principals that target reducing waste, reusing materials and giving back has seen it win a number of awards, including ‘CSR Initiative of the Year’ and ‘Commitment to Sustainability’ from high-profile industry and trade media titles. The two awards, presented by Hotel and Catering News Middle East and Clean Middle East respectively, underline the hotel’s achievements in reducing its impact on the environment and commitment to reusing products and reducing waste that would otherwise end up in landfill.
These prestigious titles were delivered after judges assessed TRYP by Wyndham Dubai’s extensive green credentials and the day-to-day operation and implementation of its environmentally-friendly policies and practices.
At the heart of the property’s sophisticated eco-focused initiatives, and one of the key reasons for its recent awards success, has been successful moves to eliminate the use of plastic bottles through an innovative in-house water filtration and glass bottle refilling system.
A first for the region, the hotel uses a filtration system that removes chlorine and contaminants from mains water, eliminating the need to purchase water in plastic bottles. The switch to glass bottles, which are cleaned and refilled in-house, means the hotel has reduced the amount of plastic waste that is sent to landfill by over 306,000 bottle per year.
TRYP by Wyndham Dubai’s ‘Commitment to Sustainability’ extends to the use of recycled materials, which includes using paper toweling and tissue manufactured from 100% locally recycled cardboard, an initiative that was set up exclusively for the hotel by a local supplier and is another first for the region’s hotel industry.
