As Lebanon focuses on strengthening its electricity network, Siemens has gathered together leaders from the country’s energy sector to discuss technology for more robust and reliable power generation, transmission and distribution.

“Efficient, digitalized power generation and transmission are the building blocks of Lebanon’s future, and collaboration and partnerships will be key in driving innovative solutions to strengthen the country’s energy sector,” said Jean-Claude Nasr, Senior Executive Vice President, Power Generation, Siemens Middle East. “Digitalization in energy is playing a crucial role in using data to drive productivity, and Lebanon’s power sector would benefit greatly from more modernized generation and transmission technology.”

At the event, Siemens experts presented technology for highly efficient power generation including gas and steam turbines, and also energy management for efficient transmission and distribution of electricity. Demand for energy in Lebanon is increasing and a recent International Monetary Fund (IMF) report cited electricity sector reform as one of the key factors needed to drive economic development.

“A strong energy supply is essential for sustainable economic and social development in Lebanon, and we are committed to being a strategic technology partner, ensuring Lebanese people have access to safe, efficient and reliable electricity,” said Syed Tahir Nazir, CEO, Siemens Levant and Libya.

During the event Siemens representatives also presented the company’s financing solutions, which support investment in technology by offering project finance, equipment and leasing, structured finance, capital loans and advisory services. Siemens Gamesa, the world’s largest turbine manufacturer by installed capacity, also showcased its wind energy production solutions suited to the Lebanese market.
