Under their planting initiative, ‘Pick and Grow’, the Sharjah Girl Guides (SGG) embarked on a new environment conservation awareness programme with a series of sapling distribution of 103 Emirati almond tree to mark the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week observed from January 18 – 21, 2021.
Through the initiative targeting Brownies, Senior Guides and Guides and their families, SGG sought to promote green practices amongst UAE community members by educating them on the selection of the right plants and trees as well as the best planting techniques, in order to foster their awareness of nature conservation and highlight the role and importance of the green environment in supporting, promoting and sustaining healthy human life on Earth.
Accordingly, in collaboration with the Sharjah Municipality, SGGdistributed almond tree seedlings and various flower saplings to the Brownies, Senior Guides and Guides and their families, from 9am to 2pm during the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. Following the tree planting sessions, SGG also thanked Sharjah Municipality for providing the saplings and for their active participation in the activities associated with the plant sapling distribution across five days.
