For the 2nd year in a row, Hilton has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index, the most prestigious index for corporate responsibility and sustainability performance. This independent ranking recognizes Hilton’s leadership in redefining sustainable travel.

“We’re honored to be recognized for our commitments to cut our environmental footprint in half and double our investment in social impact by 2030,” said Katie Fallon, EVP, global corporate affairs, Hilton. “Every day our 5,400 hotels around the world play a role to protect the planet for future generations of travelers.”

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) and RobecoSAM, a global investment group focused exclusively on sustainable investing, evaluate the sustainability performance of the largest 2,500 companies listed in the Dow Jones Global Total Stock Market Index. In the “Hotels, Resorts and Cruise Lines” category, Hilton was rated as the leader, for the launch of their 2030 Global Goals, including being the first major hotel company to institute science-based targets to reduce carbon emissions and send zero soap to landfill. These targets are part of Hilton’s Travel with Purpose corporate responsibility strategy to further the United Nation’s 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. This recognition compliments Hilton’s recent listing on Fortune’s Change the World list.

Hilton is helping protect the planet by reducing water and waste by 50% and removing plastic straws from managed hotels. The company is already an environmental leader in the industry, saving more than $1 billion by investing in sustainable operations since 2008. The company is driving positive change in communities by doubling the amount invested with local, small and minority-owned suppliers, along with programs for women and youth. It also includes increasing financial support for natural disaster relief efforts.
