GROHE, the leading global brand for full bathroom solutions and kitchen fittings, has joined forces with GEMS Education to raise awareness about water preservation from a young age. GROHE replaced the existing faucets atThe Westminster School, Dubai and GEMS FirstPoint School– The Villa with 50 self-closing faucets to help limit and minimize water consumption. The collaboration is part of GROHE’s ‘Green School’ initiative — a regional program that will be deployed in different countries in MENA to boost the sustainability of education providers’ operations.

This campaign is an adaptation of the award-winning Green Mosque initiative previously carried out by GROHE in the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Egypt.GROHE is committed to raising community awareness of the significance of environmental sustainability, particularly important in a water-scarce region such as MENA. The program aligns with GEMS Education’s focus on sustainability including reducing water usage throughout its 40schools in the UAE. Besides quality, technology and design, sustainability is one of GROHE’sfour brand values and one that is deeply anchored in the brand’s strategy.

“At GROHE, sustainability is one of the main pillars we honor and work hard at to make responsible living an everyday reality for everyone. It is because of this commitment that we continue to increase awareness on the best use of water resources. Our objective is to position GROHE as a brand that is responsible towards the environment and committed to protecting the planet for future generations” said Mohammed Ataya, ‎Leader, Gulf and Pakistan, LIXIL EMENA.

Carl Roberts, CEO and Principal of The Westminster School, added, “GEMS Education believes that living in a more sustainable world starts with a quality education. That’s why sustainability is incorporated into our curricula and why we nurture students from a young age to develop a mindset that considers how to be a responsible global citizen. Being part of GROHE’s ‘Green School’ initiative supports our mission to educate students and encourage them to live a more sustainable lifestyle.”

Matthew Tompkins, Principal and CEO of GEMS FirstPoint School, said, “At GEMS Education, we are always looking for new and innovative ways to promote sustainability.  Working alongside GROHE and their ‘Green School’ initiative, provides us with the opportunity to further promote the importance of sustainability to the leaders of tomorrow.  We remain committed to supporting our students today, for a happier and healthier tomorrow.”

GROHE supports local communities wherever possible and aims for the ‘Green School’ initiative to be deployed within countries in the MENA region. This helps to raise community awareness – especially among the younger generations- of the necessity of preserving water. In doing so, GROHE aims to encourage the wider public to shift towards more sustainable products in order to implement widespread conservation techniques and secure the future of this precious natural resource.
