Themed “Innovative Technologies for a Sustainable Economy”, the 6th WGES 2019 will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on October 20 and 21, at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC).
Empower noted that the summit will discuss three major topics; ‘Towards sustainable development’, ‘International cooperation towards a green economy system’, and ‘Adoption of green innovative solutions’.
Empower has already announced its participation in the 21st Water, Energy, Technology and the Environment Exhibition (WETEX) 2019 as a Strategic Sponsor.
“Participating in the 6th edition of WGES as a Global sponsor comes within the framework of the implementation of our ambitious strategy, in line with the UAE Green Growth Strategy, which contributes towards the achievement of the UAE Vision 2021,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.
“We are happy to participate in the 6th WGES as a Global sponsor and the 21st WETEX as a strategic sponsor, in support of our belief in the importance of achieving the sustainable development goals of UAE,” continued Bin Shafar.
“The WGES is a reflection of Dubai’s efforts to become a global hub for the green economy and sustainable development, by establishing a culture of innovation, providing innovative solutions, and offering safe solutions according to the best global practices in this field. This works to transform all the cities in the UAE to leading smart cities,” added Bin Shafar.
Bin Shafar highlighted that WGES and WETEX are key platforms to promote innovative products, services and technologies in the energy sector, and to meet with decision makers, investors, buyers, and those interested, from around the world. It is also an opportunity to identify market needs, review current and future major projects, and seek chances to participate in solar projects and programmes in the region.
Bin Shafar stressed that Empower is committed to supporting various sustainability strategies, notably the UAE Vision 2021 and the UAE Energy Strategy 2050, which seeks to increase the contribution of clean energy in the total energy mix to 50%, the National Climate Change Plan 2017-2050, and the long-term national initiative to build a green economy in the UAE under the slogan ‘A green economy for sustainable development’, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which lead the UAE to become pioneer in the field of the new green economy globally.
