The sixth EcoWASTE exhibition, an event dedicated to advancing sustainable waste management and recycling in the region, will kick off on Monday, January 14, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

Organized by Abu Dhabi Waste Management Center (Tadweer) in partnership with Masdar as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), the event will focus on the latest innovations in the field.

Set to run until January 17, EcoWASTE 2019 will draw the participation of over 1,500 visitors and showcase more than 100 sustainable waste management and recycling technologies and solutions.

The event will present ‘From Waste to Art’, an exhibition of artworks made of recycled waste by prominent Greek artist Nikos Floros, collaboratively hosted by Tadweer and the Embassy of Greece in the UAE.

Furthermore, EcoWASTE will feature a dedicated corner for universities to introduce their innovations in waste recycling.

The agenda will also include WFES EcoWaste Forum, poised to bring together leading decision makers and specialists to discuss sustainable waste management strategies and best practices.

As part of EcoWASTE 2019, Tadweer will host several seminars focused on recycling at its pavilion in ADNEC’s Hall 2 to raise public awareness about the importance of using recycled products to protect the environment and preserve natural resources. The center is also set to sign several agreements with exhibitors and stakeholders on the sidelines of EcoWASTE.

Dr Salem Al Kaabi, Acting General Manager of Tadweer, said: “EcoWASTE is the foremost regional platform that convenes leading decision makers as well as regional and global experts from the public and private sector to share knowledge and explore investment opportunities in sustainable waste management and recycling. Since its inception, the event has achieved continued success in highlighting best practices and latest solutions in this vital domain.”

He added: “Tadweer supports Abu Dhabi’s vision of balancing economic development and environmental protection to keep up with the current population growth and the resultant increase in waste production. Through participating in ADSW and EcoWASTE, the center seeks to promote active engagement of various stakeholders in raising awareness about the importance of waste recycling, as well as in encouraging all segments of society to contribute towards creating a safer, cleaner and more sustainable environment.”

Tadweer is a key government entity responsible for all activities related to the development of waste management services in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, including the collection, transportation, treatment and disposal of waste in a safe, efficient and economical manner. The center is also tasked with carrying out pest control, educating communities about the significance of protecting the environment, and encouraging them to adopt sound environmental habits to drive sustainable development.
