Delta Hotels by Marriott, Jumeirah Beach Dubai proudly announces that the hotel has been recertified by Green Globe for the second consecutive year.
Located in the heart of one of Dubai’s most vibrant destinations, the famous Jumeirah Beach Residences (JBR), the hotel is leading the way in exercising sustainable initiatives through routine checks including measuring the consumption of water, electricity, gas, and natural resources as well as waste volume at the property.
Effective energy and water saving measures have been implemented across the property during the 2019-2020 period, in line with Delta Hotels by Marriott Jumeirah Beach’s key environmental goals to optimize utilization of resources, through the data that was gathered and analysed through this check.
Utilizing the quiet times experienced during the pandemic, the hotel upgraded its systems with energy saving measures wherein all the staircase lights were replaced with motion sensors to automatically dim lights when no movement is detected. This has resulted in huge energy savings of 435.12 Kw per day, a total of 13 053.60 Kw per month.
To meet water reduction targets, water saving aerators were also fitted in the hotel’s guest rooms on wash basins, kitchen sinks, shower heads and bidet systems. Through this measure, Delta Hotels by Marriott now has a total water savings of 50 per cent with a flow rate of 36.5 litre/minute as compared to previous flow rate of 72 litre/minute.
Furthermore, the hotel also installed hands free faucets in guest public restrooms last year, which greatly assists in maintaining optimum health and hygiene standards at the property with an upcoming change in the staff restrooms, soon to follow in 2022.
Talking about the recent recertifications, Binu Anandan, Chief Engineer at Delta Hotels by Marriott said, "We are delighted to be recertified by Green Globe as the certification is the epitome of our efforts to build a more sustainable environment, in line with the UAE’s Sustainable Development Goals.
As a team, we endeavour to continue implementing new actions that will lead to further improvement in the coming years as well as set an example and motivate our partners to follow suit."
