Al Shirawi Group, one of the largest private business conglomerates in the UAE, has formed a landmark joint venture with Germany’s GILDEMEISTER Energy Solutions GmbH to advance the development and deployment of solar energy solutions in the UAE.
The GILDEMEISTER Al Shirawi Energy Solutions joint venture specialises in utility-scale projects and focuses on the planning, development and construction of turnkey free-space plants and their operations. The new company will work hand-in-hand with the region’s project developers and investors for implementation of rooftop systems and other comprehensive solutions consisting solar applications, storage and e-mobile technology.
The joint venture brings global expertise in renewable energy into the UAE marketplace, thereby supporting the nation’s relentless pursuits for a greener future. It will also benefit the Group’s complementary businesses in the construction sector, especially its facilities management arm that is set to play a leadership role in solar energy management.

Charalampos Sarafopoulos, General Manager, Al Shirawi FM, who has been instrumental in leading the Group’s solar efforts, formalised the contract in the presence of Kremer and Moritz Wickert, Head of Energy Systems, GILDEMEISTER Energy Solutions at the recently concluded Intersolar Europe held at Munich, Germany.
The Würzburg-headquartered GILDEMEISTER has carried out more than 8,000 installations in over 40 countries. It was awarded the Best Practice Label for energy efficiency projects by the Deutsche Energie-Agentur (dena), the German Energy Agency. The company has also won Intersolar Awards. As part of the DMG Mori Group, GILDEMEISTER brings with it decades of international experience in an industrial environment and has clients in different sectors.
