A senior official at the Department of Energy – Abu Dhabi (DoE) has underlined the importance of bolstering strategic cooperation between DoE and Spanish companies in the energy domains and harnessing the immense potential boasted by the two sides.

Awaidha Al Marar, Chairman of the DoE, made the statements during a meeting organised by the UAE Embassy in Madrid in collaboration with the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services where a number of Spanish companies participated. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Global Power & Energy Exhibition, running in Barcelona on September 17-20, where Al Marar is leading the UAE participation.

"The Department of Energy is forging ahead with providing optimum energy services and facilities in keeping with best international practices in the field, " Al Marar added.

The meeting addressed investment prospects up for grabs in areas of renewable energy and focused on the DoE’s significant role in developing the energy sector in the emirate as part of ‘Plan Abu Dhabi 2030 and the Federal Government’s goals in this respect. It occasioned a review of the ongoing key projects carried out by the department, including ‘Noor Abu Dhabi’, the world’s largest independent solar power plant to be built in Abu Dhabi as part of the emirate’s economic diversification plans.
