The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) – the government entity in charge of ensuring the energy sector’s excellence and sustainability in the emirate – held a training workshop titled “BCM Implementation Course” for representatives of the local energy sector.
The session was attended by representatives from 18 licensed entities, including water and electricity companies, as well as sanitation services providers in Abu Dhabi. The course is part of the DoE’s efforts to promote sound Business Continuity Management (BCM) practices in the energy sector, make sure licensed entities take part in the Department’s activities and events, and engage strategic partners in the development system aimed at improving energy and water projects to promote sustainable development in the emirate. It also underlines the Department’s role in training and providing full support to all stakeholders in the Abu Dhabi energy sector.
“The Department of Energy is committed to playing an active role in managing the energy ecosystem in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi,” said the DoE’s Undersecretary Mohammed bin Jarsh Al Falasi stated “We are also keen to establish a supportive environment for all licensed entities to thrive, and with that in mind, we consistently embrace advanced Business Continuity Management software, optimising them to the energy sector. This reflects the Department’s role in identifying relevant advanced technologies, systems, policies, and management models, customising them to the energy sector through concerted efforts from all stakeholders. Together, we can make a significant contribution to the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, ensure a prosperous future for the energy sector, and achieve sustainable development.”
“This training course offers a valuable opportunity for participants to explore international success stories in the field of Business Continuity Management, and study the vision and approach of world-leading BCM experts, which, in turn, caters to our needs and serves our objectives for the future of the energy sector in Abu Dhabi,” bin Jarsh added.
DoE’s Executive Director of Strategic Affairs Eng. Abdullah Al Khameiri “With this course, the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy seeks to implement BCM standards across the sector, spread awareness about them, and ensure efficiency and capacity building in the sector through the continuous training of human resources,” he explained, noting that these standards are in line with the regulations issued by the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority.
The workshop was marked by lively debates and interaction between all participants, who lauded the valuable content presented by prominent experts and specialists in project and business management in the energy sector. It offered an opportunity for participants to hone their management skills and master modern work systems developed to manage the growing number of energy, water, and renewable energy projects, all while promoting energy efficiency in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
