Water consumption in 42 buildings of the University of Sharjah, UoS, dropped by more than 75 percent after Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, SEWA, installed 1,020 tools of rationalisation and water organisers.
The university seeks to be a role model in spreading the culture of rationalisation among students, highlighting the importance of raising the awareness of all segments of society about the importance of reducing the use of electricity and water, as part of the SEWA’s plan to rationalise consumption by 30 percent.
Dr. Eng. Rashid Al Leem, Chairman of SEWA, said that the authority seeks to cooperate with all the institutions of the community to spread the culture of rationalisation and provide all the necessary resources to activate the campaign to rationalise consumption.
This is being under the guidance and full support of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
Rashid Al Marzouqi, Assistant Director of Rationalization Department, said that a SEWA study revealed that 17,705 gallons of water per day is available in the buildings of the University of Sharjah, equivalent to 5.31 million gallons of water per year, following the installation of 1,020 rationalisation devices at a cost not exceeding AED17,700.
