Each year, Earth Month is celebrated in more than 140 nations to drive awareness, education, and engagement on environmental issues.
At Salesforce, we consider the environment a key stakeholder and leverage the power of our people and our products to reduce the impact that we and our customers have on the planet. We recognize that climate change is a human issue impacting everyone — not only does it impact every individual, company, city, and nation, but it also weighs heaviest on the world’s most vulnerable communities, amplifying global inequality. Equality is a core value at Salesforce, that’s why we are putting people and the planet first this Earth Month and invite you to join us in celebrating the planet we all call home.
So how do we celebrate? With support from our employee green team, Earthforce! Earthforce is a group of over 8,000 passionate employee volunteers in more than 40 offices around the globe that are dedicated to promoting and celebrating environmental responsibility both at Salesforce and in our communities. They plan events, volunteer opportunities, and educational campaigns to help us scale our impact.
Last year, with the help of Earthforce, we celebrated our most successful Earth Month ever. Together we volunteered more than 4,000 hours, partnering with more than 50 external organizations throughout the month. Earthforce also hosted more than 70 Earth Day celebrations in offices around the world.
This year, employees around the world will be celebrating by educating fellow employees, volunteering in the community and taking action. We hope that our entire Ohana will act as climate champions in their daily lives — taking the Create a Sustainable Future trail on Trailhead is a great first step in this journey (or a quick way to refresh your knowledge).
The trail covers everything from Salesforce’s climate action strategy and how we partner with innovative organizations to drive collective impact, to tangible examples of how businesses, governments, and individuals can make more sustainable decisions to positively impact the globe.
We hope that by sharing some of our most recent progress, including leading the Step Up Declaration, announcing our first-ever renewable aggregation deal and continuing to deliver all customers a carbon neutral cloud and operate as a net-zero greenhouse gas emissions company, we are empowering others to join us – no matter where they are in their own sustainability journeys.
We understand that change doesn’t come overnight, and we also recognize that it cannot be done alone. Making lasting, positive, environmental impact must be done by working in tandem with one another. Individuals, businesses, cities, and governments must work together to drive sustainable solutions for the future.
