Emirates District Cooling, a leading district cooling service provider in the region and a wholly owned subsidiary of Dubai Investments PJSC has been conferred with its 9th consecutive IDEA District Energy Awards in two categories. A bronze each has been won under the “No of Buildings Committed/ Beyond North America” and “Total Building Area Committed/Beyond North America” categories.
The awards given at the 110th International District Energy Association [IDEA] Annual Conference and Trade Show held in Pittsburgh, USA, has been an active contributor in informing, connecting, and advancing district energy industry around the world.
With over a dozen IDEA Awards, over the last nine years, the maximum number of awards have been won under the category of “Greatest Number of Buildings/Beyond North America” followed by “Most Square Feet Added/Beyond North America”, “Building Area Committed/Beyond North America” and last but not the least “Outstanding Contribution for Cleaner Energy, Greener Cities” categories.

Emicool currently provides district cooling services to over 22,000 customers in the UAE, with the most efficient and highest quality infrastructure. The Company is planning to increase its plant capacity to 500,000 Tonnes of Refrigeration [TR] by 2020 with rampant construction leading to pent-up demand for district cooling services across the UAE and region.
Emicool has put forward strategic plans to transform many buildings in Dubai from conventional air-conditioning to district cooling, which will increase penetration of district cooling concept in the market.
Established in 2003, Emicool’s energy efficiency initiatives are aligned with Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy [DIES] 2030, and aimed at developing an integrated approach to securing energy supply and employing efficient energy practices for the sustainable growth of Dubai.
District cooling services are currently provided within Dubai Investments Park (DIP), Dubai Motor City, Dubai Sports City, Uptown Mirdif, Palazzo Versace, Damac Hills and Mirdif Hills in Dubai. The company has also accomplished district cooling plant for Nakheel’s Deira Islands Night Souk and commissioning mega plant at DWTC Expo Site.
