The Emirates Authority for Standardisation & metrology – ESMA, reviews the UAE’s technical regulations, and standards that serve to rationalize energy consumption in the fuel, oil and gas and petroleum products sectors.

ESMA will announce the most important national legislative efforts in this regard, from 9 to 12 September at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC). During the congress energy hosted by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

During the four-day exhibition, ESMA will be presenting projects for the modernization of energy efficiency programs for household appliances (refrigerators and freezers), petroleum products, electrical appliances, vehicles, water consumption. And the UAE system for the control of solar energy products.

HE Abdulla Abdul Qader Al Maeeni, ESMA Director General, said that the Authority is leading national legislative efforts in the fields of research and development and adoption of international standards in vital areas, including the energy file.

The UAE government supports scientific research and innovation, which foresaw the developmental future of our country and charts the future of our future generations. He added.

Energy Efficiency

The Energy Efficiency programs implemented by ESMA, has contributed to the provision of energy-efficient products, with a total energy efficiency cards issued 11.4 million cards for electrical products, distributed between home air conditioners (about 4.96 million products) and washing machines and dryers (2.4 million products) ), Refrigerators (about 1.96 million refrigerators and freezers), dishwashers (about 181,000), electric storage water heaters (about 1.87 million), TVs (about 36,000).

In water sector, (3 million green labels) were issued for the products used in the health facilities within the UAE system to control the tools that guide the consumption of water, which contributed to achieve a savings in water consumption of approximately (2 million gallons) from the beginning of the mandatory application July 2017 until the end of the year 2018.

Al Maeeni pointed out that the work teams in the UAE government are working in an integrated manner, in order to achieve advanced levels in this file, and we are working to strengthen the legislative efforts in the UAE on energy efficiency, starting with the sector of vehicles (hydrogen, electric and hybrid) through efforts to rationalize Consumption in various devices and sectors, we currently have 9 technical regulations and regulations.
