Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, announced that it has enhanced the capability of its Command Control Centre (CCC) for district cooling plants by establishing a new system, ‘Parallel Working environment (PWE)’.
All the 75 plant rooms of Empower across Dubai are currently connected to and controlled by its centrally located, state-of-the-art ‘Command Control Center (CCC)’ and the operations team is closely monitoring the cooling plants. The new system will be a redundant system of CCC by way of having an alternate remote operation of the plants. EMPOWER explained that this is part of it’s strategy to ensure business continuity through having continues and close visibility of DC plant operations.
Empower’s Command Control Center is having a capacity of handling up to one million data parameters related to cooling towers, coolers, transformers, water supply and others using the advanced SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) system. The Centre functions through an advanced, high-performance smart network that helps to respond to any eventuality in plant operations with precise and quicker responses. The new alternative system is a completely independent setup equipped with the latest and advanced technologies, providing all of the facilities of Command Control Center in a self-governing way.
Ahmad bin Shaafar, CEO of EMPOWER, said, “we are always keen on satisfying customers through developing state-of-the-art techniques in districts cooling, which enable cooling plants to work sustainably and without any interruption.”
“Empower uses innovative solutions to provide consistent cooling services to the customers that contribute to sustainability, by balancing between economic development and environmental conservation,” he added.
Empower emphasized that the Command Control Centre is providing a holistic smart monitoring of the operations of its plants in Dubai to ensure smooth, reliable and sustainable district cooling services across the Emirate. PWE is acting as a backup for the CCC, this system increases the satisfaction level of its customer as it ensures the continuity of district cooling services. Both these arrangements ensures close monitoring of the plant operations, which in turn ensures the business continuity.
Empower provides district cooling services to more than 1,090 buildings, catering to more than 100,000 customers. The company operates more than 1.43 Million Refrigeration Tons (RT), providing environmentally friendly district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Bluewaters, Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai Design District, International Media Production Zone and others.
