Dubai’s famous indoor tropical rainforest announces semester two dates for their unique educational program – a ten-week program designed to teach children important lessons about animals, science and the environment.
Launching Sunday the 5th January 2020 and running through to 11th March, The Green Planet Academy invites all budding biologists, young scientists or animal lovers to embark on the experience of a lifetime, plus the opportunity to unlock future career potentials and get a taste of what life behind the scenes of The Green Planet is really like.
Priced at just AED 1,500 for the ten-week semester, The Green Planet Academy consists of a one-hour session, which will run weekly on a chosen day from 4pm to 5pm. Academy pupils are required to choose their favoured day from the sessions which will be held from Sunday to Wednesday.
This one-of-a-kind program, which is aimed at children from 7 to 11 years, focuses on giving children an opportunity for hands on interactions with animals, interactive learning about science, the environment and participating in working tasks that benefit the plants and animals of the fascinating indoor biodome.
Each week’s program will focus on a unifying theme and underlying topic, offering children the chance to experience glimpses into various potential future careers, including biologist, zookeeper, veterinarian, horticulturist, entomologist and more!
The weekly program will consist of educational animal interactions, led by a biologist who will teach children about animal care, training and enrichment work. Interaction experiences range from sloth and sugar glider encounters to reptiles, birds and even bugs.
There will also be a range of work experience projects which will have a connection to the animal in focus that week, such as food preparation, preparing toys or collecting record keeping information. Children will learn what a terrarium is, how to plant their very own tropical biodome and even be able to create their very own hanging tree planter to take home.
Additionally, each week, children will be encouraged to ‘make an impact’, tasked at spending time working on a project that can help the environment or making a difference outside of The Green Planet with beach clean ups at Le Mer Dubai.
Following completion of the ten-week program, children will be able to attend their ‘Green Graduation’ and will receive a graduation certificate and awarded the official title of Junior Biologist and TGP Academy graduates.
