The participants in the 4th edition of the Gas & Technology Showcase and Conference “GOTECH 2023”, which was organized by Dragon Oil,the oil exploration & production platform entirely owned by Dubai Government, confirmed their trust that the UAE will hold the most successful international conference, when it will host the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change “COP 28”,at the end of the current year, in “EXPO 2022 Dubai” City.

They highlighted during the final day of “GOTECH 2023” the significance of supporting the efforts of the UAE to achieve the “Zero emissions” and the climate neutrality by 2050. They also stressed the significance of diversifying the energy system with a greater focus on renewable energy sources to meet future growth, cooperation, innovation and work to build a stronger, more resilient and sustainable industry that meets the needs of all stakeholders in the oil and gas sector, and contributes to a better future for all.

They also emphasized the importance of expanding the use of artificial intelligence technologies in the oil and gas industry, due to its positive impact on the various stages of production.

The conference participants continued their discussion sessions on the third and closing day of the conference on the latest artificial intelligence technologies used in the oil and gas industry, and the efforts made to deal with the challenges facing the industry, especially the reduction of carbon emissions.

About 60 university students from the UAE and the Middle East and North Africa region presented important projects on the closing day of the conference that focused on reducing carbon emissions by 50% over the next ten years, in line with the Year of Sustainability, and to support the UAE’s efforts to achieve the “Zero emissions” and the climate neutrality by 2050.

Witnessed several debate sessions on the innovation in the oil and gas industry.

The conference also provided an opportunity for about 30 other university students to present research papers on the oil and gas industry, as they presented the results of their research to a committee of arbitrators from the Society of Engineers to select 3 research papers.

The Oil and Gas Technology Conference and Exhibition (GOTECH 2023) witnessed a great turnout in its three days, as the number of those who attended the conference reached about 3,000 people, most of whom were interested in the oil and gas sector, including experts, technicians and technicians from various companies and institutions operating in the UAE.

Most notably that United Energy Group (UEG), a fast-growing international energy group, listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, is a Platinum Sponsor of GOTECH 2023. UEG’s employees are participating in over 30 technical sessions at the conference. UEG has a robust oil, gas and renewable energy portfolio in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia.

Song Yu, UEG’s Executive President, said, :GOTECH’s theme of ‘Sustainable Energy Transformation’ aligns with UEG’s vision of the future. While working hard to provide secure oil and gas supplies to our host countries, we are constantly exploring new ways to reduce emissions from our upstream operations and investing in renewable energy projects. The world needs greater supplies of secure, affordable, and sustainable energy. The UAE is at the forefront of meeting the challenges posed by this energy trilemma, so we are thrilled to be in Dubai and join the discussion of how our industry can meet the challenges that lie ahead”.

In a comment, OiLSERV, an independent oilfield services company established with the aim of providing world-class solutions to clients operating in the Middle East and North Africa region, says:”We are happy to support Dragon Oil and will continue to deliver on our market-leading, Dragon Oil needs tailored solutions for all of it geographical operations”.
