MMEC Mannesmann, an independent Emirati engineering contractor company providing integrated engineering services to the oil & gas, chemicals, metals & mining, and renewables sectors, held a reception for its strategic partners during the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference “ADIPEC 2022”, which was also attended by senior officials, ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the UAE.

A panel discussion was organised by the company as part of the reception held, which focused on green hydrogen, its importance and uses in the light of the UAE’s strategic climate plan. The session was attended by a host of distinguished guests including Abdullah Alshamsi, the Assistant Undersecretary, Industry Growth, at the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MOIAT), Mohammed Ali Baslaib, CEO of Arabian Company Group, and Anas Aljuaidi, CEO of MMEC Mannesmann.

The panelists emphasised the pivotal role that green hydrogen plays in building a sustainable sector based on clean and renewable sources, and which contributes to accelerating the achievement of the UAE’s carbon neutrality target by 2050 and reducing carbon emissions in various vital sectors. They also noted that green hydrogen offers promising opportunities for developing a sustainable green hydrogen economy, offering promising prospects for local and global partnerships that shape the future of the energy sector and enhance the UAE’s position as a major player in the green hydrogen new economy.

Engineer Anas Aljuaidi, CEO -MMEC Mannesmann, also pointed that the MMEC Mannesmann has adopted an ambitious investment strategy in research and development to create innovative technologies, design and implement advanced systems to increase operations efficiency in the energy sector, locally and globally. The investment strategy also covers testing new technologies with promising positive impact in order to help find solutions to the challenges faced by the oil and gas companies, increase productivity, and reduce costs.

Talking at the session, Mr Aljuaidi indicated that his company has begun investing in the green hydrogen sector early on, in response to the country’s climate neutrality strategy, and is now working, together with a number of MMEC Mannesmann’s partners, on several green hydrogen projects. He also forecasted an increase in future investments as the UAE strives to diversify its energy sources mix while simultaneously contributing to mitigating the effects of global warming, a dilemma afflicting the whole world.

At the end of the reception, Mr Anas Aljuaidi expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude to the company’s strategic partners for their cooperation and efforts over the past years, expressing high hopes for further cooperation with local and global companies and institutions in the energy sector to achieve common goals.
