“World Water Day is the annual celebration of our most precious resource –a resource that makes the world livable. It also marks an opportunity to generate worldwide awareness of the global water crisis, and why we need to do what we can now to safeguard this precious resource for future generations.
With this year’s focus being on the ‘value of water’, it’s important to highlight water’s indispensable role in every aspect of human development and environmental prosperity fromoverall health,to culture, food cultivation, industrial production, education, and more.
Over the course of the last year, in the wake of the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic, there has been a sense of renewed care for our environment at large, as well as the crucial role water plays not just in our everyday lives, but also in the health and safety of populations to fight against Covid-19. Therefore, this World Water Day, it is imperative to join hands in safeguarding water.
At Xylem, we are committed to solving global water challenges and Xylem Watermark; our CSR program, is on a mission to provide clean water and sanitation solutions for at least 20 million people globally living in poor economic conditions to ensure healthy lives and resilient communities. With the United Nations reporting that more than two billion people live in countries experiencing high water stress, our goal is to do something now to change this before it’s too late.
I believe that the key to solving the global water crisis is through innovative conservation and global collaboration. The time to act is now, and it is essential that we work together to develop long-term digital solutions which will improve water and wastewater management for environmental and economic sustainability.”
