With nearly 70,000 staff based in 29 accommodations, Transguard Group actively seeks innovative ways to minimise its impact on the environment with various large- and small-scale projects that provide energy reductions and improvements across the business. This includes the installation of 1,224 solar panels that are expected to reduce the company’s carbon footprint by 487 metric tons.

“So far, our energy-saving initiatives have led to a reduction of 14% in utility costs this year compared to last year – the lowest we’ve seen in five years,” said Greg Ward, Managing Director, Transguard Group. “The solar panel project – which is in line with UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and Dream 2020, our own Corporate Social Responsibility programme – is scheduled to be completed by 31st January 2020 and will push these savings even further, strengthening our position as a leading company in sustainability initiatives.”

Other noteworthy projects so far this year include the replacement of more than 870 window AC units with invertor split AC units with CFC-free gas (achieving a 42% reduction in energy costs), as well as the replacement of fluorescent tube lights with more than 930 LED lights, resulting in savings of 100,142 kWh. Additionally, Transguard’s installation of a Building Management System in one of its accommodations has resulted in a 25% reduction in energy consumption in that building.

In 2018, Transguard’s energy-focused achievements included savings of 9.58 million imperial gallons of water and 1.19 million kWh units, which is equivalent to mitigating 842 tons of CO2. In addition, the company provided 280 training courses on the efficient use of water and electricity.
