Due to the recent COVID19 pandemic, people are forced to see beyond the obvious. Many things once taken for granted are no longer so. The safety, security and continuity of Energy is an important area to be looked at as humanity battels the pandemic. Alternative sources of energy for stability and security have emerged as a tour de force in recent times. Renewable solar energy solutions are very resilient to such a pandemic shock as they are decentralised and located on the roof of an asset. Sharaf DG Energy recognises solar as the future of electricity generation and the key to conserving nature and building a fossil-fuel free world.

Solar energy has seen huge progression in recent years, with much progress still to be made. The United Arab Emirates aims to produce 75 per cent of its energy requirements from clean sources by 2050, with the UAE government aiming to invest AED 600 billion by 2050 to meet the growing energy demand and ensure a sustainable growth for the country’s economy.

Sharaf DG Energy wants to play a part in the UAE’s conversion to sustainable energy sources by making solar accessible across various sectors and plans to facilitate this by spreading awareness amongst stakeholders and decision makers helping them to recognise the benefits. By addressing multiple segments at the same time; Sharaf DG Energy can educate on the importance of renewable energy whilst simultaneously allowing consumers and businesses to generate their own clean energy, benefit from annual energy savings as well as helping to protect the natural environment.

Renewable energy plays a major role in sustainability and stands at the forefront of the UAE’s renewable energy strategy 2050. The UAE is on track to double its renewable energy portfolio over the next 10 years, with a focus on reaching its sustainable development goals and leading the efforts to adopt the latest innovations that address climate change, ease the effects of global warming, and ensure growth of the economy.

“An important transition is underway in the energy sector. Governments, private corporations, and other stakeholders all over the world are springing into action” says Vice-President of Sharaf DG Energy, Sanjay Dabur. “UAE’s Energy Strategy 2050 has set a clear direction for this transition in the energy sector, and renewables will have an ever-increasing role to play. We must go back to the sun. That is one way to save the planet. This country is blessed with this virtually eternal resource and must lead the transition.”

Sharaf DG is a household name and trusted brand, therefore Sharaf DG Energy plans to uphold this standard – playing a huge part in the growth of renewable energy within the economy and recognition of solar as the greatest source of clean energy in the UAE.
