Not only are we still in a recession, but with utility bills rising and sales dropping, companies are looking for ways to save money on their energy bills. Consumers have been jumping on this bandwagon for years to save on their bills, the energy they do not use goes right back to the power plants and customers get paid for producing it, so does the commercial sectors! A lot of corporations are now looking into renewable energy sources to power their whole buildings.
The Biomass System
As fossil fuel prices remain unstable due to the economy, biomass heating systems have been manufactured to hopefully take it’s place which could produce big savings in the commercial sector. Don’t get this confused with wood burning furnaces or stoves, trees are also not ripped down for this type of fuel, it is 100% organically produced. Here are some examples of what they put into organic biomass fuel:
Scrap Timber/Lumber Wood
Old Forest Debris
Certain Types Of Grown Crops
Manure
Some Types Of Waste Residues
With an abundance of waste materials available from demolitions down to municipal solid wastes, these materials will be in constant supply forever. This is why Biomass is a renewable energy source, because waste residue will forever exist and we will always be able to grow the crops used for this type of fuel. Much of this “waste” that we now renew, used to end up in landfills or openly burnt.
Heating Or Electricity
The biomass system can be used for either heating a building or used for providing electricity throughout. When you burn the biomass, heat is released which is able to heat up a building no problem, on the other hand, in biomass plants, it is burned to produce steam which is able to run a turbine that produces the power. Thanks to technology such as pollution controls and combustion engineering, we are able to keep the carbon footprint down as opposed to burning our usual fuel such as coal, natural gas and oils.
Installing Commercial Biomass Heating Systems
It is simple to convert an existing heating system in a commercial building and switch it over to the biomass heating system. It can be converted so you no longer use fossil fuels, you can use this system for central heating for around the building and also use it for your hot water on the premises. By doing this you are cutting down on your carbon footprint and many Businesses are now moving towards this and publically announcing that they are now green, this boosts their company and some have even noticed sales increases due to becoming green!
