With one year ahead of the Government of the UAE playing host to the global energy leadership, the UAE Organising Committee of the 24th World Energy Congress has announced today that the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) has joined as a host sponsor of the 2019 Congress.
Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the 2019 Abu Dhabi World Energy Congress will be the world’s largest and most influential energy gathering, bringing together stakeholders from across the globe to ignite action on how to resolve the world’s energy challenges and ensure energy delivers a prosperous future.
At the Congress, the DoE will share its expertise as the key policymaker in charge of driving the diversification of energy sources in line with Abu Dhabi’s Vision 2030 and in partnership with local, regional and international players. Being the catalyst towards greater economic, environmental and social sustainability for the emirate of Abu Dhabi aligns closely with the theme of the 2019 Congress, ‘Energy for Prosperity’.
The partnership with DoE will ensure a conversation on the constantly-evolving energy industry that is both future-proofed and grounded in sustainability. It will also place the UAE 2050 Energy Strategy to develop clean energy, curb energy demand and manage emissions at the forefront of the debate.
Dr. Matar Al Neyadi, Undersecretary at the UAE Ministry of Energy and Industry and Chairman of the UAE Organising Committee for the 24th World Energy Congress, said: “We are honoured to have the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy on board. The DoE is at the heart of the energy debate in the UAE and the wider region, and their presence will hugely contribute to the actionable outcomes the Congress hopes to achieve. The DoE’s remarkable track record parallels our own ambition to showcase the UAE’s vision for the future of energy by placing Abu Dhabi at the heart of energy innovation and excellence around the world. Together with the DoE and our other sponsors and partners, we will be able to cover the revolutionary change in the energy industry and how these changes can deliver a more sustainable future for everyone.”
H.E. Mohamed Bin Jarsh Al Falasi, Abu Dhabi Department of Energy Undersecretary, said: “The Department of Energy is committed to ensuring a bright, prosperous and rewarding future for Abu Dhabi and the UAE based on accurately anticipating and effectively meeting dynamic energy demands and through creating a sustainable energy landscape for all. We are proud to enhance our role as policy makers by working in partnership with local, regional and international players in this vital field to ensure the prosperity and future energy security of Abu Dhabi and the UAE. We are delighted to take part in the 24th World Energy Congress and will be using our presence at the event to impart our wealth of expertise and experience of creating effective energy strategies within the regional energy sector to key stakeholders.”
The Department of Energy will join the 24th World Energy Congress’ host sponsors including ADNOC, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Emirates Nuclear Energy (ENEC) and Mubadala, and work alongside co-host sponsor Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) and other leading global organisations including German Energy Agency (dena), Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and the Gulf Cooperation Council Interconnection Authority (GCCIA).
