Yellow Door Energy, the leading commercial solar developer in the Middle East, has been shortlisted for the Clean Energy Initiative of the Year Award for its solar leasing business model.

The Clean Energy Initiative of the Year is one of 16 award categories at the 2019 Middle East Energy Awards. The ideal candidate for this award demonstrates a strategic approach to lowering a company’s carbon footprint through the use of alternative energy.

In the case of Yellow Door Energy, the company’s solar lease (also known as a power purchase agreement in some markets) enables businesses to save 10% to 40% on their power bills with no capital investment while generating clean energy. As the lease provider, Yellow Door Energy would invest in, design, construct, commission, operate and maintain the solar plant for the duration of the lease.

Rory McCarthy, Chief Commercial Officer of Yellow Door Energy, said: “We are honored to be recognized among very worthy companies for this award. As a Dubai-based solar developer, we are humbled to support DEWA’s Shams Dubai program and contribute to the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy and the UAE Energy Strategy 2050.”

The award ceremony takes place on September 18 in Dubai and will celebrate achievements from individuals and organizations striving to innovate and change the energy sector.
