Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, highlighted the importance of innovation in energy-efficiency and sustainable development, in connection with the UAE Innovation Month. The UAE Innovation Month is observed from 1st to 28th February 2018 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, under the slogan ‘Innovation starts with you’.
UAE Innovation Month is a national initiative which involves community members and state institutions, to establish the UAE on the global map as an important hub for creativity and innovation. This supports the UAE Vision 2021, which aims to foster a culture of innovation, and the National Innovation Strategy, which aims to make the UAE one of the most innovative countries in the world over the next seven years.

Last year, Empower won the IDEA Innovation Award for its Delta T Pro solution – The Ultimate Metering Solutions for Sustainability, at the International District Energy Association’s (IDEA) 108th Annual Conference & Tradeshow held in Scottsdale, U.S.A. The first IDEA Annual Innovation Award was bagged by Empower for the effective use of Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) in combination with reverse osmosis (RO) process to optimize the efficiency of its large district cooling plants and to minimize the use of valuable potable water by testing a series of blended proportions to maximize the water savings. The Company was also honoured with the same award in recognition of its Centralised Metering Data Management System that manages more than 80,000 smart meters. Empower was also recognised for its carbon savings in conducting IDEA International Conference in Dubai.
Empower announced earlier its sponsorship of the updated and expanded edition of The District Cooling Guide , the guide that highlights design and strategic planning for the industry, and focuses on the best methods to improve the systems to achieve better efficiencies in the heating and cooling plants and systems. The specialists in heating and cooling from all over the world will be able to use the guide in their everyday functions. The company will also sponsor the new District Cooling Guide exclusively for building owners, in association with ASHRAE.
