Earth Hour 2018 takes place on Saturday 24th March at 20.30 local UAE time, and Carrefour UAE is showing its support with a variety of activities designed to promote energy conservation and contribute to the global energy saving initiative.
On Saturday 24th March Carrefour UAE will:
Switch off 50% of its lights across 28 stores, representing a saving of 1,408 Kilowatts, which means 1,408,000 watts
This energy saving is equivalent to:
640 hours of washing
1,760 hours of continuous ironing
35,200 hours of TV watching
Carrefour will also be present at the main #EarthHourDubai event taking place at Marasi Promenade in Business Bay, Dubai. A team of representatives from the UAE’s leading supermarket retailer will be on-hand to talk to members of the public about what Carrefour is doing to help conserve energy and other precious resources, as well as gather environmentally-based commitment pledges from individuals to be hung on a specially designed ‘pledge tree’.
The theme of this year’s Earth Hour is ‘#Connect2Earth’ and aims to raise the sense of responsibility between community groups and entities to proactively engage with the environment and adopt more sustainable lifestyles, helping to build a sustainable future for generations to come.
