The Centre of Waste Management – Abu Dhabi, Tadweer, in collaboration with the Department of Education and Knowledge, ADEK, has organised an awareness campaign across various schools in Al Ain to educate students on ways to keep the environment clean and dispose waste in a safe and eco-friendly manner.
The initiative drew the participation of more than 1,340 students and teaching staff from 11 schools across Al Ain.
Highlighting the importance of adopting environment-friendly practices, such as waste segregation at source, in students’ daily lives, the campaign featured the screening of an instructional film, and a series of lectures and workshops on recycling, in addition to a competition encouraging waste reduction and recycling.
Speaking on the initiative, Nael Rashed Al Shamsi, Manager of Tadweer’s Al Ain Branch, said, "At Tadweer, we seek to inculcate sound environmental habits in students, as they are the future, and their support is instrumental in achieving the UAE’s sustainable development objectives. Given the vital role of integrated waste management in preserving the environment, educating the new generation about the importance of reducing waste and reusing materials is one of our top priorities."
"As part of our continued environmental protection efforts, our latest school awareness drive also teaches students about eco-friendly waste disposal," he added.
Al Shamsi thanked ADEK for its continued cooperation with Tadweer.
