Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, unveiled the agenda of the ”District Cooling” 2018 Conference and Tradeshow, hosted by Empower under the slogan ‘Efficient Energy for Smarter Cities’. The conference will be held for the third consecutive time in Dubai, from 9 to 11 December 2018, at Atlantis The Palm.
The conference is expected to be attended by a number of public and private sector officials and decision-makers from all over the world, representing global energy companies, engineers, contractors, consultants and suppliers. The conference will discuss the latest developments in the global march to achieve sustainable development goals, and innovative district cooling solutions. It aims to spread knowledge and raise awareness on the role of the district cooling industry in enhancing sustainable development, advancing the development of cities, and upgrading cooling systems. The district cooling industry has been present for over 100 years in the USA. Accordingly, Empower seeks to be the first to transfer this technology across the world.
“The global participation in the conference reflects Dubai’s significance in organising international events and its role in supporting sustainability in the region and the world. The conference will host global experts from North America, Europe, the Middle East and the UAE. This reflects the importance of district cooling systems and its role in combating climate change and supporting sustainable development goals,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.
Bin Shafar noted that the conference will focus on the role of district cooling systems in conserving natural resources. The agenda of the conference includes panel discussions on several topics, such as Financing the District + Energy Enterprise, and Operational Excellence – Global Best Practices and Strategies. The sessions also aim to find solutions to combating climate change. Other topics include Exposing the Full Value of District Energy, Extending the Opportunity for District Cooling, Design & Data Challenges for Performance Excellence, Smart Approaches for Metering, Controls and Optimization, Cooling Towers and District Cooling Considerations, and Strategies for Improving Efficiency, among others.
Global companies will review their latest district cooling solutions at the accompanying tradeshow. The conference will also organise workshops to exchange ideas on the best models and operating systems to efficiently make use of district cooling systems.
Empower will host the conference and tradeshow for the third time, after 2014 and 2016. The announcement was made recently during the 109th International District Energy Association, IDEA, Annual Conference and Tradeshow 2018.
