ABB will showcase some of its latest technologies at the WETEX event, in Dubai from October 23-25, 2018. A key focus of ABB’s exhibits and demonstrations will be on ‘enabling a digital grid’. ABB will also feature YuMi®, the world’s first truly collaborative dual-arm robot, which has changed the way industry thinks about assembly automation with its inherent safety and functional versatility.

ABB will introduce TXplore™, its unique submersible transformer inspection robot service solution to the Middle East market at the show. TXplore™ is equipped with high-definition cameras that provide photographs and video and can be remotely controlled enabling real-time customer inspections without physical presence. The innovative ‘robot diver’ allows the transformer tank to be inspected without removing the oil and eliminates the need to place a human inspector at risk or exposing the transformer’s internal structure to external contaminants.

Digital substations, a central element of next-generation grids will be another key focus area, where fiberoptic cables replace copper, maximizing efficiency, reliability and safety, while reducing cost, risk and environmental impact. Power quality, grid integration and transmission solutions like HVDC and FACTS will also be demonstrated alongside gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), a technology ABB pioneered 50 years ago.

ABB will also demonstrate control and automation technologies, which are part of ABB Ability™, ABB’s digital offering. Solutions on display include ABB Ability™ Symphony Plus, ABB Ability™ Network Manager and ABB Ability™ Ellipse, which combines asset lifecycle management solution that enables electric power utilities to optimize asset utilization, drive down maintenance costs and reduce equipment failures and system outages.

“Our ABB Ability™ based technologies showcased here at WETEX, provide innovative solutions to enhance grid reliability across the power value chain and enable millions of consumers to receive quality power supplies,” said Dr. Mostafa AlGuezeri, Managing Director ABB, UAE and Oversight Countries.

“They help to optimize operating costs and enable our customers to manage their assets more efficiently.” In addition to the exhibits on display, there will be several ABB experts presenting papers, making presentations and interacting with customers.

ABB will be at the Zabeel Hall – 1, Booth – TSP1 at the Dubai World Trade Centre Exhibition Halls.
