It’s the quintessential Arabic experience that visitors and expats alike find hard to resist; leisurely trekking across Mleiha’s ever-changing sand dunes comfortably secured in a 4×4 vehicle, a fatboy bike or on an ArchaeoMog.

During the tour of this magical Middle Eastern experience at Mleiha Archeological site, you can get to witness Arabian foxes, desert gazelles and other guardians of the region.

The desert-dwelling sand gazelle with its slim body and beautifully curved horns, is an elegant creature that’s a treat to any onlooker’s eyes. Slender, soft-bodied, bronze brown blister beetles along with cuckoo wasps are often seen dotting flowers and foliage. Nature rangers and free field guidebooks tell you about the region’s shy inhabitants like the Arabian red fox, a nocturnal animal with a reddish-brown bushy tail tipped in white.

On the outskirts of Sharjah, about a 40-minute drive from the city, Mleiha’s archeological terrain is therefore a spot that is well worth a visit, with its lovely sand tracks, fascinating species and exciting wildlife.
