Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Industry, highlighted the UAE’s commitment to adopt the best international standards and sustainable practices, to rationalise energy consumption and reduce carbon emissions, in line with the National Energy Strategy 2050.

He added that Earth Hour, which took place this year under the slogan, "Communicate with the Earth," confirms the country’s commitment to reinforcing its global environmental efforts, through organising many national activities to celebrate the annual event, which witnessed the participation of Emirati citizens and institutions.

He also noted that, through celebrating the event, the UAE aims to raise the awareness of the community, rationalise energy consumption, and encourage the appropriate behaviour on a daily basis, as well as to support the national efforts to achieve a balance between sustainable development and the environment

Dr. Mattar Hamed Al Niyadi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Industry, said that celebrating Earth Hour is an opportunity to stress the importance of national and international cooperation in rationalising the consumption of energy and reducing emissions.

He highlighted the UAE’s commitment to supporting the international efforts to protect the planet and reduce emissions, as well as the country’s related policies and strategies, including the National Energy Strategy 2050, the UAE Water Strategy 2036, the UAE Vision 2021, relevant national agenda indexes, and the UAE Green Development Strategy.
