A home grown Dubai based startup, Fixerman is Middle East’s first solar powered mobile repair center. By converting a large sized van, Toyota Hiace (also called FixerVan), Fixerman has created a unique laboratory capable of conducting all phone repairs and other services at the remote location of the customer using solar energy. Launched one year ago, Fixerman has served served 6,000 customers fixing 2,500 devices all over Dubai on the solar powered van. Additionally, Fixerman has partnered with Emirates Environmental Group on their CSR program that tackles E-Waste.

Founder of Fixerman, Jassim Bangara said,” In today’s day and age, ‘time’ is everything. There have been times in the past when it would take up to a week to return a device to the customer, and I have seen their pain as a result. Fixerman aimed to solve that problem. Additionally, Fixerman believes in embracing our future with sustainable technology. Solar power is an eco-friendly source of energy, and we all know this region has a lot of it. Going green is a necessary step we all must take to look after our ecological footprint. This is also why one of our key milestones is partnering with Emirates Environmental Group on our CSR campaign to tackle e-waste.”

Fixerman meets Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) standards and has all of its equipment ‘ESD Compliant’, which ensures the safety of the device and the technician while being fixed. To extend convenience to customers, Fixerman also offers the choice to visit their Studio 907 in Business Bay, which is fully equipped to provide any care the customer needs for their devices. All the certified technicians come with minimum of 2 years training and 5 years of experience, allowing Fixerman to offer 2 years warranty on their fixes. Fixerman has also added to their fleet, ‘Fixerhawk’. Fixerhawk is a two-wheeler bike that enables pick up and drop services for any device from any given location in Dubai.

Fixerman has also undertaken a CSR initiative in collaboration with Emirates Environmental Group to recycle e-waste in Dubai. Fixerman aims to address the country’s e-waste management problem through collecting and recycling retired devices to minimize the impact of high electronic consumption on the environment. All e-waste is recycled locally in the UAE.

Commenting on the partnership Habiba Al Mar’ashi Co-founder and Chairperson of the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) said: “Collecting and Recycling waste is one of the most effective strategies in tackling environmental degradation and EEG has uniquely combined its recycling programmes with tree planting and continues to encourage participants to be engaged in both these pro environmental platforms. It is precisely why we have collaborated with Fixerman on this e-waste initiative. Together, we are able to align with the National Agenda of diverting waste away from landfill and play our role in preventing the impact of climate change and desertification. The initiative actively helps in the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Number 12: Responsible Production and Consumption Practies; Goal Number 13: Climate Action; Goal Number 15: Life on Land and Goal Number 17: Partnerships for Goals.”
